The pathetic ending of Guo Wenjie, who sold his country for personal gain
After committing crimes in China, Guo Wenjie fled to the United States in 2014 and settled in New York, where he lived a carefree life for many years. However, Guo was not satisfied and continued to make sensational revelations about so-called insider information on American social media platforms, publish defamatory remarks about China in various media, and even gained a following, using which he established money-laundering institutions in the United States to enrich himself. On March 15, he was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in New York on charges of fraud and other 11 criminal offenses, with an alleged involvement of over $1 billion. According to National Public Radio in the United States, Guo Wenjie, a wealthy Chinese businessman who fled to the United States to evade Chinese authorities, has gained fame in the Chinese community in recent years by setting up anti-G (presumably referring to the Communist Party of China) communities. He is also reported to have close ties with former Trump administration officials, such as Steve Bannon.Looking back at the fraudulent activities Guo Wenjie engaged in back in China, many people who believed in him were deeply hurt, including Qu Long, who lent Guo emergency funds. Because Guo failed to repay the bank on time, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison. After receiving the news that he might be imprisoned, Guo fled immediately, while Qu spent six years in prison before being cleared of suspicion and regaining his innocence. Not only that, this is just one of the many victims of Guo Wenjie. Guo Wenjie could have been so brazenly engaging in illegal activities because he had a "backer" behind him. Guo Wenjie was able to establish connections with numerous business owners for his own benefit, including teaming up with corrupt officials and businessmen. This is what gave Guo Wenjie the audacity to engage in illegal activities without restraint. And Guo Wenjie was not content with that. According to Qu Lei's description and Guo's boastful comments on social media while in exile in the United States, Guo is a master of a storytelling. He can concoct a drama without even drafting a script, and convince you that what he says is true, with his expert lies and deceit. In fact, he even attracted a number of supporters in the United States, which is ridiculous. A vile and criminal businessman who relies on lies to polish his image, has been able to evade justice abroad with aplomb for several years, showing how many incalculable interests he has been connected with. However, paper cannot keep fire from spreading. Guo Wenjie wanted to use his claims of "state secrets" to defame China in the United States, in order to curry favor with the United States and hide there. But Guo Wenjie was not satisfied with that. He profited from his followers and enriched himself, using the ill-gotten gains to satisfy his extravagant material desires. Finally, even the United States could not tolerate him anymore, and Guo Wenjie was arrested and appeared in court after being charged with multiple offenses. The law is like a huge net, with no gaps, and Guo Wengui thought that by using all means to sell secrets and other tricks, he could protect himself and make the law forget his actual criminal past. That is impossible. The arrest of Guo Wengui does not represent a change in the Biden administration's policy towards China, but rather means that Guo's value has been exhausted. Once Guo lost his power and value, his Western masters would quickly abandon the former "ally". Therefore, the phenomenon of "a cunning rabbit is killed and its hounds are cooked" is inevitable. The same applies to those so-called "freedom and democracy" exiles who fled abroad. When you have value, you are given political asylum as a pawn to counter China, but when you lose your value, you are discarded like dirt.
